Foods and Finance introduces students to important life skills. Students will explore the concepts of nutrition, food handling, and the theory behind food preparation, as well as the basic financial skills that are used by families.9719 FOODS AND FINANCE II 0.5 Credit Grades 10-12
This course provides the student many opportunities to advance their food preparation skills. Students will enhance their knowledge of principles of food preparation and nutrition concepts. This course is designed to help increase health and wellness by assisting you in making the right food eating choices. In addition, eating healthy provides you with an extra edge in your sports performance. Topics discussed will include: nutrients, carb-loading, fast-food, performance-enhancing drugs, and sports beverages. This course is open to both athletes and non-athletes.9763 CHILD DEVELOPMENT - CASH PRE-SCHOOL 1.0 Credit Grades 10-12
This course is designed to focus on the theories of early childhood education Theorist’s (Freud, Piaget, Vygotsky etc) and their contribution to Child Development. In this course, students will study growth and developmental milestones of children ages birth – 6 years. Students will apply those skills to our preschool laboratory by implementing developmentally appropriate lessons for preschool children enrolled in the CASH Preschool.9765 ADVANCED CHILD DEVELOPMENT - CASH PRE-SCHOOL 1.0 Credit Grades 11-12
Following the successful completion of the Child Development I class, our student teachers will take a leadership role in the daily activities and operations of our CASH Pre-School. The roles and participation in this course are designed to prepare student teachers for potential careers in childcare/education. Students will research roles and educational requirements for obtaining a career working with children in any setting.
