As I begin my 22nd year of teaching high school English, I am fortunate to live, work, and parent in the Coatesville School District. Academically, I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in English for Secondary Education from West Chester University in 1998. Immediately afterwards, I earned my fellowship in Writing from the Pennsylvania Writing and Literature Project. After teaching one year at Oxford High School, I was hired and excited to join the Coatesville Senior High School instructing 12th grade English. I completed over 30 credits through Marygrove College in the Art of Teaching, and I earned my Master's Degree in Secondary Education from Cabrini University in the Spring of 2016. I am also a graduate of the Advanced Teaching of Writing course through PWALP at West Chester University; this opportunity was invitational and has provided me and my students with academic support in inquiry reseach and academic writing throughout the school year.
Personally, I am married to Mr. Mike Jordan, also an English teacher at the high school. Our West Caln household consists of three boys, ranging from 7-19, our youngest two are enrolled in the district, while the eldest is a proud graduate of Coatesville and currently pursuing a Math degree from Temple University. Two of the younger ones are also special needs, which resonates with me when instructing students with disbailities and the importance of following Individual Education Plans.
Philosphically, I believe kindness and compassion are the two most important qualities one can embody when working in a human profession. With every novel, short-story, and poem we read - I am always asking the students to indentify the link to humanity. Everyday is an opportunity to learn, laugh, and assist one another on our academic journey.
