Mrs. Sarah Strauber
Hello!
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year at Rainbow Elementary School! I am one of Rainbow's Learning Support Teachers and my role is to help EVERY student make meaningful academic progress by addressing their individual needs. I believe all children can learn and grow and I love helping students meet their potential.
Experience & Work History
I have worked for the Coatesville Area School District since 2007, as a Special Education teacher at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. This is my 7th year at Rainbow and I work with fourth and fifth grade students. As the district has moved towards an Inclusion model for Special Education, I have adapted my instruction to reflect these best practices. I Co-Teach Reading and Math within three classrooms to provide support to students with and without IEP's (Individual Education Plans). For the 2018-2019 school year, I work with Mrs. Fulmer, Mr. Wise, and Miss Thompson. I really enjoy collaborating with these wonderful teachers and getting to know so many amazing kids!
Education & Certification
I graduated from Temple University in 2002 with a Bachelor's Degree in both Elementary and Special Education. I obtained my Master's Degree in Reading from Wilkes University in 2016. I am currently certified in the following:
Elementary K-6
Special Education Preschool-12
General Science 7-12
Reading Specialist K-12
Personal
My husband and I have four children: Alex is in 10th grade, BobbieJanne is in 9th grade, Caroline is in 7th grade, and Benjamin is in 2nd grade. As a family, we love spending time outside, going to the beach, and cheering the kids on at their football, basketball, or field hockey games. My husband is an interventionist, helping people with drug and alcohol addictions find recovery. Life is busy and crazy and wonderful, with lots of love and laughter mixed in!
