  • The Honors African American History course at Coatesville Area Senior High School is designed to provide students with a comprehensive overview of the African American experience beginning with Africa through modern times. The course will address the introduction of Africans to the Americas, their enslavement, and emancipation, as well as the social and political challenges and triumphs that followed. The course will also highlight the social, cultural, and political contributions of African Americans to American society.

    In this class you will be asked to read and write, to analyze historical material, to synthesize ideas and to evaluate the ideas of others.  This is a college level course, so you should not expect it to be easy.  The intellectual skills and interests you will develop in this course, such as critical reading, analyzing data sets, and synthesizing evidence, virtually define well-prepared college students and will equip you for lifelong learning.
