School-Based Therapy Services
Therapy services are available for students who are eligible for special education services. School-based therapists often work with other school–based team members to complete assessments and determine what is needed for a student to receive a free appropriate and public education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment (LRE).School-based Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy are to be provided when a student has a problem with an observable, functional skill that is critical to his/her ability to function in the school environment, and to succeed in the classroom. The child’s functional problem MUST be due to clinical findings that are responsive to therapeutic intervention.
