- To get us warmed up to learn about percussion, we are going to listen to a song that has all sorts of percussion instruments in it:

The song is called "Turn the Beat Around" by Gloria Estefan.
* Next we are going to learn about the two main types of percussion instruments, pitched and unpitched.
- Pitched and Unpitched: One thing to keep in mind is that percussion instruments are either pitched or unpitched.
-A pitched percussion instrument can play a melody or tune that you can sing along to. Examples would be: xylophone, boomwhackers, glockenspiel and the marimba.
- An unpitched instrument can play only one sound. Examples would be: maracas, sandblocks,
and the triangle.
This video shows a variety of percussion instruments from all over the world. Can you tell the difference between pitched and unpitched instruments and name some of them?
